City crews remove yet another Queen Street East tree, this one at the corner of Queen Street East and Brock Street, Wednesday afternoon, all victims of the emerald ash borer. Sault Ste. Marie has been plagued in recent years by the invasive beetle, which has claimed trees along the major downtown route as well as other areas. Emerald ash borer, native to Asia, is the worst alien pest problem to hit Ontario since Dutch elm disease. It has killed countless ash trees in cities in the Great Lake states and across Ontario.
